HTC One V Confirmed for MetroPCS, U.S. Cellular and Virgin Mobile | Technology News

Taiwanese handset maker HTC has recently introduced three new Android smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2012, in Barcelona. The company kicked off a new series of devices, dubbed “One,” which currently comprises three smartphones: HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One V.

These will be launched on the market in the following months. HTC confirmed that all three would be available worldwide and that they had already signed partnerships with more than 100 carriers across the globe.

Shortly after the AT&T and T-Mobile USA unveiled, more or less official, that they would carry the One X and One S smartphones, it appears an HTC spokesperson confirmed that the HTC One V would be offered by three US-based regional carriers.

According to the folks over at PhoneScoop, HTC One V will be launched by U.S. Cellular, Virgin Mobile and MetroPCS. Unfortunately, the HTC official did not mention any timeframes for the release of the smartphone.

HTC One V is the less-featured device in the “One” series and the spiritual successor of the HTC Hero and Legend. In fact, the handset maker wanted to pay a tribute to the former’s innovative design and HTC One V strongly resembles the Hero and Legend smartphones.

The phone will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on board. It will pack 4GB onboard memory, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Just like the other two “One” series phones, this one comes with 25GB of free cloud storage via Dropbox, which are available for two years.

The phone is equipped with a 1 GHz processor and runs HTC’s latest Sense 4.0 user interface. It also comes with Beats Audio hardware for better sound, as well as 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording.
